A pair of decorative openwork trivets fashioned from cast iron. The first item is of circular form, featuring four stylised hearts arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central ring, supported by three integral feet. The second item is of square form, featuring an interlaced basketweave or strapwork motif within a solid square frame, supported by four feet. Both pieces exhibit the characteristic granular surface texture of sand-cast metal. No manufacturer marks or inscriptions are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit surface oxidation and light surface rust, particularly within the recessed areas of the design. The dark patina shows wear and minor pitting consistent with age and domestic use. Both trivets remain structurally sound with no visible cracks or losses to the metal.
