This charming pair of hand-carved soapstone guardian lions features the traditional male and female forms finished in a mottled pale yellowish-green stone. The figures are seated atop rectangular plinths decorated with stylised floral motifs, displaying the classic waxy lustre and natural russet inclusions characteristic of Chinese steatite carvings.
