A life-sized hand-cast composite sculpture of a reclining Yellow Labrador Retriever puppy, designed by artist Sandra Brue for Sandicast. The figurine is depicted in a naturalistic pose, lying with its head turned and its front paws curled around a large bone. The piece features a granular surface texture characteristic of sand-cast materials, meticulously hand-painted in shades of cream and light tan to represent the animal’s coat. It includes lifelike inset dark eyes and a black-painted nose. The artist’s signature, Sandra Brue, is present in black script on the lower edge. The base retains the original adhesive manufacturer’s labels, stating Sandicast, The Original Sandicast Sculpture, Handcast and Handpainted, San Diego, California USA, and copyright 1989 S. Brue. A secondary model identification label for Lab Pup, Yellow is also present on the underside.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in very good overall condition. There are no apparent chips, cracks, or professional repairs. The hand-painted finish is well-preserved with no significant loss of colour. The adhesive labels on the underside are legible, showing only minor lifting at the corners.
