This lot comprises three novelty money boxes of varying designs and materials. The first is a glazed ceramic money box modelled after a traditional British Royal Mail pillar box, finished in a bright red glaze with a domed top and a horizontal coin slot to the front. It is decorated with a yellow rectangular plaque and the royal cypher E.R for Queen Elizabeth II in black. The second is a red-painted metal or resin money box in the form of a British-style K6 telephone kiosk. It features a domed roof with a coin slot and detailed window panels. The signage above the door reads TELEPHONE, and the base is printed with the text MALTA & GOZO, indicating it as a souvenir item from the Maltese islands. The third item is a stylized ceramic owl money box with a metallic silver and gold lustre finish to the head and wings, and an iridescent pearlescent pink glaze to the body. The eyes are inset with faceted clear stones, and a coin slot is located at the top of the head. These items reflect British cultural icons and the souvenir trade. No factory or makers marks are visible to the exterior.
Condition report:
The pillar box is in good condition with a high-gloss finish. The telephone kiosk shows minor surface wear and light paint loss consistent with age and use. The owl money box appears to be in good condition with both inset eye stones present.
