A pair of colour prints after the original oil paintings by Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896), titled My First Sermon and My Second Sermon. The subject matter features the artist’s daughter, Effie, seated in a high-backed wooden church pew. In both images, she is wearing a distinctive red cloak, a black hat with a feather, and red stockings. The first print shows the child sitting upright and attentive, while the second print depicts her having fallen asleep during the service. Both prints are housed together within a single dark wood glazed frame, separated by a cream-coloured double-aperture mount. Small printed labels reading MY FIRST SERMON and MY SECOND SERMON are affixed to the mount below the respective images. No artist’s signatures, edition numbers, or publisher’s marks are visible on the prints.
